Measuring your Dogs Length, Girth and Neck

Girth=measurement around widest part of rib cage
Length= suggested minimum dog length, measurement from base of neck to base of tail
Dog neck size = measurement around the neck where collar will be worn

Don't forget that for a comfortable fit you must allow two fingers to be able to fit between the collar and your dog's neck. Sizes may vary slightly so it is always best to select a collar size range that your dog's measurement fits within. For example if your dog's measurement is 15" select 14-16" rather than 12-15". Also if you are ordering a traditional buckle fastening - rather than a clip - a rule of thumb is to add two inches to the neck measurement taken to find the collar size. For puppies or young dogs that are still growing, select a size that can be adjusted to allow room for growth.

MEASURING FOR BARK 'N' BOOTS

Bark'n Boots are built to secure around the ankle but below the carpal pad. The boot should have room in the paw area, allowing the paw to spread when bearing weight.

Measuring Paw Width

  1. Have your dog stand on a firm surface (wood, linoleum, or concrete).
  2. Place a piece of blank paper under a front paw.
  3. Lift the dog's other front paw so that its weight is placed firmly on the paw being measured.
  4. Mark the paper at the paw's widest point on the left and right edges of the paw (see graphic).
  5. Use a ruler to measure the width of the paw (in inches) from the left mark to the right mark.
  6. Use the chart to determine the proper size. For example: if the width is measured between 2.25" and 2.5", the dog would wear a small boot; between 2.75" and 3.0", a large.
size paw width†
XXS 2.0" 5.1 cm
XS 2.25" 5.7 cm

XL 3.25" 8.3 cm
XXL 3.75" 9.5 cm
